IHYA-US-SUNNAH

Educational & Welfare Society

Our Aqeedah

Aqeedah of Ahlus-Sunnah wal Jamaa'ah is the Aqeedah of IHYA-US-SUNNAH Educational & Welfare Society

Aqeedah of IHYA-US-SUNNAH educational welfare society is the Aqeedah of Ahlus-sunnah wal jama'ah, i.e, to believe whatever is mentioned in Qura'an, authentic sunnah upon the understanding of companions of the prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) as they were the chosen and the best people to accompany the last and final messenger of Allah.

Aqeedah of Ahlus-Sunnah wal Jamaa'ah

  1. The Aqeedah of Ahlussunah wal jma’ah is to believe in Allah, His Angles, His Books, His Messengers, the Last Day and Qadr (Preordainment) - the good and the bad of it, and that it is from Allah. They believe in the Ruboobiyyah of Allah, and that is to believe that Allah is the sustainer, the creator and the owner of all things and He is the one who runs the affairs.

Ahlussunnah believes in Allaah and His Names and Attributes, as they were mentioned in the Book of Allaah and in the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), without tahreef (distortion), or ta‘weel (figurative interpretation), or tamtheel (making likeness of it), nor tashbeeh (resemblance), nor ta’teel (denial).

Ahlussunah believes in Allah’s Angels and also in the concept that:

"They are but honored slaves. They speak not until He has spoken, and they act on His Command." Suratul Anbiya 21:26-27

Ahlussunah believes that Allah has revealed books to His Messengers so that they shall be a proof against the worlds and a guide for those who abide and live by them. Moreover, the Prophets can teach people the religion and show them guidance through the books of Allah and hence their hearts can be purified.

"Messengers as bearers of good news as well as of warning in order that mankind should have no plea against Allaah after the Messengers. And Allaah is Ever All Powerful, All Wise."

Then Allaah will resurrect His slaves and give them eternal life to which there will be no end. He will bring them to account for their deeds, and He will reward those who did good deeds and punish those who did evil deeds. Mankind will be divided into two groups, one in Paradise and one in Hell. The people of Paradise will abide therein forever, and the kaafir people of Hell will abide therein forever also.

  2. Ahlussunnah loves the Companions (radiyallaahu ’anhum) of the Messenger of Allaah, and we hate those who speak against them. And believe that to speak ill of them is to speak ill of the Religion, because they are the ones who conveyed Deen to us. And they love the Family of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) with love that is permitted by the (Islamic) Sharia.
  3. Ahlussunnah loves the People of Hadeeth and all of the Salaf of the Ummah from Ahlus Sunnah.
  4. Ahlussunnah despises ’ilmul-kalaam (knowledge of theological rhetoric), and views it to be from amongst the greatest reasons for the division in the Ummah.
  5. Ahlussunnah does not accept anything from the books of fiqh (jurisprudence), nor from the books of tafseer (explanation of the Qur’an), nor from the ancient stories, nor from the Seerah (biography) of the Prophet, except that which has been confirmed from (the Qur’an) Allaah or from (authentic Sunnah of) His Messenger. This does not mean that they have rejected them, nor do they claim that they are not in need of them. Rather, they benefit from the discoveries of Scholars and the jurists and other than them. However, they do not accept a ruling, except with an authentic proof.
  6. Ahlussunah does not write in the books, nor do they cover in the lessons, nor do they give sermons with anything except (in accordance to) the Qur’an, or the authentic and authoritative hadeeth. And they detest what emanates from many books and admonishers in terms of false stories and weak and fabricated ahaadeeth.
  7. Ahlussuannah does not perform takfeer (expel one from Islam) upon any Muslim due to any sin, except Shirk (Al-Akbar) (polytheism) with Allaah, or the abandonment of the Prayer, or apostasy. However, Takfeer is made with the consensus of the Scholars.
  8. Belief of Ahlussunnah is that the Qur’an is the Speech of Allaah, it is not created.
  9. The ‘obligation is to co-operate with the group that traverses the methodology of the Book (Qur’an) and the Sunnah, and what the Salaf of the Ummah were upon; in terms of calling to Allaah the Glorified, and being sincere in worship of Him, and warning from Shirk, innovations, and disobedience, and to advise all of the groups that oppose this.’ ‘So co-operating upon righteousness and piety (taqwaa) and mutual advising necessitates warning against evil and not co-operating with the wicked.’
  10. From the beliefs of Ahlussunnah is that, they do not deem it correct to revolt against the Muslim rulers as long as they are Muslims, nor do they feel that revolutions bring about reconciliation. Rather, they corrupt the community.
  11. The multiplicity of present day parties is a reason for the division of the Muslims and their weakness. Therefore Ahlussunnah sets about ‘freeing the minds from the fetters of blind-following and the darkness of sectarianism and party spirit.’
  12. Ahlussunnah restricts their understanding of the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) to the understanding of the Salaf of the Ummah from the Scholars of Hadeeth, not the blind-following of individuals. Rather, they take the truth from wherever it comes from the people of the Sunnah. And we know that there are those who claim Salafiyyah, yet Salafiyyah is free from them, since they bring to the society what Allaah has prohibited. We believe in ‘cultivating the young generation upon this Islam, purified from all that we have mentioned, giving to them a correct Islamic education from the beginning - without any influence from the disbelieving western education.’
  13. Politics is a part of the Religion, and those who try to separate the Religion from politics are only attempting to destroy the Religion and to spread chaos.
  14. The belief that there will be no honor or victory for the Muslims until they return to the Book of Allaah and to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam).
  15. Ahlussunnah does not accept a fatwaa except (in accordance) from the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam).
  16. Ahlussunnah firmly believes in the misguidance of the one who rejects the Ahaadeeth pertaining to the Mahdee, the Dajjaal (Anti-Christ) and the descent of ’Eesaa Ibn Maryam (’alayhis-salaam) and here it does not mean the Mahdee of the Raafidah. Rather, this means the leader from the family of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) from the people of the Sunnah filling up the earth with justice and fairness, just as it was filled with oppression and injustice before. And they say that he is from Ahlus-Sunnah, because cursing the noble Companions is not from justice.

These are glimpses into our ’aqeedah and our da’wah. So if one has any objection to this, then we are prepared to accept advice if it is truthful, and to refute it if it is erroneous, and to avoid it if it is stubborn rejection. And Allaah knows best.

So let it be known that this has not fully covered our da’wah and our ’aqeedah, since our da’wah is from the Book and the Sunnah, to the Book and the Sunnah, and our ’aqeedah is likewise. And Allaah is sufficient for us, and He is the best of those who are trusted. And there is no might, nor power, except with Allaah.

Its Principles and Resources

The Aqeedah has two fundamental sources, they are:

  1. The Book of Allah -the Most high (the noble Quraan)
  2. What is authentic from Allaah's Messenger (sallallaahu `alaihi wasallam). Since the Messenger (sallallaahu `alaihi wasallam) does not speak from his desires, rather his words are Revelation sent down.

And the Ijmaa (concensus) of the Salafus-Saalih (Pious Predecessors): A source based upon the Book and Sunnah (2)

However, for other matters and the rest of the matters of the Ghayb (Unseen) ,then there is no way to find them out in detail, except by way of the Book and the Sunnah (the revelation) otherwise it would not be from the Unseen.
  3. That which we refer back in order to understand the Book and the Sunnah are those texts which explain others; and the understanding of the Salafus-Saalih (the pious Predecessors and those scholars who followed their minhaj (methodology) and then what is correct from the language point of view. However, we do not reject something established due to a language meaning.
  4. All the fundamental principles of the Deen were explained by the Prophet (sallallaahu `alaihi wasallam) .That which was not considered part of the deen at that time cannot be considered part of the Deen later.
  5. Submission to Allah and His Messenger (sallallaahu `alaihi wasallam) both inwardly and outwardly. So we do not oppose anything from the Book, nor from the authentic Sunnah with qiyaas(analogy), personal views, kashf (intuition), nor the saying of any Shaykh or Imaam, etc.
  6. Infallibility (i.e. being masoom) is established for Allaah's Messenger (sallallaahu `alaihi wasallam). The Ummah as a whole is also masoom (infallible) and protected from uniting upon error and misguidance. However, as for the individuals of this Ummah then they are not masoom( i.e. they err and make mistakes). So whenever there is a difference amongst the scholars, then we refer it back to the Book and the Sunnah along with an excuse for the one who has erred and has mistaken; since he is from mujtahidoon (those Scholars who are qualified to extract rulings from the Book and the Sunnah) of this Ummah.
